Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah also dealt with the question: whether reasonable possibility of the defence plea of being true can benefit the accused. His lordship answered the question in affirmative, with the observations: “[I]f after examination of the whole evidence, the Court is of the opinion that there is reasonable possibility that the defence put forward by the accused might be true, then the whole of the prosecution case is viewed in context of this reasonable possibility, entitling the accused to the benefit of the doubt.”
